“It’s not happiness that brings us gratitude. It’s gratitude that brings us happiness”
The other day, I saw a hindi movie called “trapped”. The movie was about a guy getting trapped inside an apartment in a suburban city for days together, without any food, water or electricity. He wasn’t kidnapped or anything of that sort. It was a simple accident, which could have happened to anyone that led to his sordid state. A beautiful concept represented as a movie. It makes you realize the importance of smaller things in life which we often tend to ignore.
In our daily stressful lives, we often don’t pay attention to what we already have in hand. We just take everything for granted, busily going after things that we don’t have. We fail to appreciate what we have been able to successfully manifest in our lives. There is always something that you have which the other person is yearning for. The problem is that we always look at the people above us, focusing on every thing that we lack; instead of looking at people below us. Few days back, I went to an orphanage to do my bit of social service. But when I went there, it made me realize that there is so much that I can be thankful for. I have never been able to show gratitude for anything – be it for being able to make ends meet, for being able to chase my dreams, for the very house I live in, for the loving family that I have around me and so much more.
We are always in a constant chase of one thing after another in an endless cycle and continue to do so for our whole lives. Probably if we start showing gratitude for living each day, we can reach a happier state of mind and be able to live in NOW!
Great going I like how you are continually evolving in your blogs
